In Matthew 23-24, Jesus is warning against hypocrisy and the end of times when the Messiah will come to save His faithful. As I was reading, I couldn't help but think to myself, "God, I sure hope I get to be with You when it's all said and done." And that thought brings me to thinking about what I need to do to make sure I get there.
On the one hand, I have to keep reminding myself that because of God's love and mercy, I am saved by His grace, not my own good deeds. I can't store up enough good to get me where I want to go. On the other hand, I know there is a narrow path to Jesus and not everyone will find the way. Jesus is my guide, my instructor, my teacher. He tells us,

12 For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.
There's that word from yesterday's reading, again. Humble. Jesus was humble. He wants me to be humble in heart before my Heavenly Father. I have to figure out what that means for me and my day to day life. I think one way I can keep myself in check is to make sure I am being a servant in some way, where ever I go, in whatever I do. I also realize that my natural ways may not be God's ways, so I need to go to Him for direction. Something tells me, I am just getting started.
How about you? How do you humble yourself?
How about you? How do you humble yourself?
A prayer for today-
Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank You for the Teacher and Counselor, I have in Jesus. I pray You will help me be humble in heart. Help me recognize my ways that are not Your ways. Open my ears to hear You. Open the ears of Your people so that we may love one another the way You love us.
I pray this prayer in the name of Jesus,
Amen
Love of Christ,
