Proverbs 1-4

Wisdom is not about being smart.  We can have all the knowledge in the world and still lack wisdom because we fall short of being able to apply and use all that we know day to day, moment to moment (Proverbs 1-4).

King Solomon, David's son, was blessed with wisdom, and he shares it with others in the book of Proverbs.

I love reading through the Proverbs, because they offer tidbits of applicable to-dos to make sure we are living out everyday faith.

The real secret to wisdom isn't knowing it all, it's knowing God and His direction for our lives.

That's some good news, don't you think?

Because contrary to popular belief, we are never limited by our own abilities and resources when we let go of our control and allow God to have control of our lives.

I don't know about you, but I need to remember these words...

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;

in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.[a]
Do not be wise in your own eyes...

He equips us as we go and grow in our faith.

Wisdom is inherent when I surrender to God.  That means handing over the reigns, trusting Him to do the driving, and being thankful for the fact that things don't always have to make sense when God is in charge.

A prayer for today-

Dear God,

Thank You for equipping me as I live and grow in my faith.

Forgive me for all the ways I lean too much on my own understanding instead of submitting to You.

Fill me with Your Godly wisdom so that I know what to do for You each day.  Open my heart to all the areas of my life that need Your transforming grace.

I especially need Your help when it comes to _________________ in my life.  Show me Your way.

I trust You, my Lord and Savior.

I pray for __________________  who are struggling to understand.  Grab them by Your hand and make their paths straight and secure by Your love.

In Jesus' holy name I pray,
Amen

Grace, peace, and mercy of Christ to you,
