Psalms 22-27

Psalms 22-27 are full of hope.  But behind the hope, there's a sense of trouble. I think we can all relate to that to a certain degree.  Trouble comes in all shapes and sizes.  David, the Psalmist, names his troubles to God, and that makes room for God's hope to take over.

Here's a reflection of that hope that really speaks to me right now.

I remain confident of this:

I will see the goodness of the Lord

in the land of the living.
14
Wait for the Lord;

    be strong and take heart

    and wait for the Lord.

God's goodness is not something I have to wait to see and experience in Heaven.  It's a promise for here and now.

And as a believer, sometimes I have to wait and waiting can be harder than doing, acting, working, and helping.

As I read those words today, "wait for the Lord," the still, small voice in my heart gently reminds me that while I wait (often fighting my own impatience) God is very busy working behind the scenes in ways I can't imagine.

"Don't do anything about that, Lindsay.  Just wait.  Let me work."

Even in times of waiting, we can remain confident that we will see "the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living."

What a blessing!  Thanks, God.  Those are just the words I needed today.

How about you as you read the Psalms today?  What reminder is God's voice whispering to your heart?

A prayer for today-

Dear God,

Thank You for Your Word that speaks directly to my heart when I need it the most.  Thank You for filling me with hope and goodness.

Lord, I pray for all those who are in a period of waiting right now.  Waiting can be harder than doing.  Forgive our impatience.

Fill us with Your strength.  Give us courage and patience, and guide us by Your Holy Spirit to love, support, and encourage one another.

I love You, Lord, my strength.  I remain confident in You.

In the name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit I pray,
Amen

In Christ's love,
