It seems, at least so far, like 1 Chronicles is more of a list and less of a conversational story. Regardless, this is God's Living Word, and two things stand out to me in today's big sea of names.
The first noticeable detail is in the little bit of commentary regarding the Rebenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh.
20 They were helped in fighting them, and God delivered the Hagrites and all their allies into their hands, because they cried out to him during the battle. He answered their prayers, because they trusted in him.
This verse just underscores how much God wants to hear from us and how much He wants us to trust Him. Because when we do, He can do so much more for us and through us.
The second striking verse for me today has to do with the musicians at the ark of God.
31 These are the men David put in charge of the music in the house of the Lord after the ark came to rest there.32 They ministered with music before the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, until Solomon built the temple of the Lordin Jerusalem. They performed their duties according to the regulations laid down for them.
"They ministered with music..." got me thinking about our own ministries as believers.
How would you and I fill in this blank for our own lives, "I minister with _____________."
What do I bring before God to help glorify His name and help others connect to His powerful love, mercy, and grace?
A prayer for today-
Dear God,
I thank You for reiterating Your great, big promises for Your people in my own life. Help me to minister to others for You, in the ways You need me and call me. What do you need me to give this day in order to share Your love with others?
In the name of Jesus I pray,
Amen
