Philippians 1-4

We read the book of Philippians today.  Paul, the apostle who used to persecute Christians before He came to know Jesus, writes a letter to the church in Philippi.  It's a love letter of sorts, full of joy.  It's interesting because Paul is imprisoned at the time.  He references being in "chains."  Through Paul, we can see again and again how God uses adversity in our lives to give us a stronger voice and a big purpose.

Paul's words are full of more good advice when we are struggling with our own "chains."  He doesn't let his circumstances stop him from living out God's purpose for him.  He lets them motivate him instead.

Here are a few thing's I've learned from Paul during his hard times...

1. Be like Christ.  Keep nurturing the relationships God brings into your life.  Love as you go.

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus

2. Rejoice always, no matter what because God has a plan, and He's working on it.

13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing,

3. Keep praying.  Talk to God.  Listen for His answers and trust Him.  He's with you, and He hears you.

Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

A prayer for today-

Dear God,

I rejoice in You, Lord! I am so grateful for the people you bring into my life.  I thank you as I remember [name those on your mind] ________________.  I pray with joy for them.  Work in me, Lord, to fulfill Your good purpose.  Give me the strength to do all things for Your glory with gentleness.  Bless me with Your peace, God, which transcends all understanding.  Guard my heart and mind in Jesus.

In the Name of Jesus I pray,
Amen

Love in Christ,
