When I first started reading this I got a little tense. It just felt like Paul was being a little "preachy" at times, trying to convince me to follow a bunch of "do's" and "don'ts." Then I realized sometimes I need just that. We all need some blunt, to the point correction at times when we are really missing the point in our faith.
I always get into trouble when I make the mistake of trying to view my faith as a set of "right" and "wrong" rules to follow. That's because it drowns out the power of Christ and God's grace in my life. Sure, there are the commandments God gives us. Those are important to get right, but I also think we find the real meaning in those commandments through our personal relationship with God.
17 Nevertheless, each person should live as a believer in whatever situation the Lord has assigned to them, just as God has called them.
1. Ok. What situation has the Lord assigned me right now?
2. What does it mean for me to be living as a believer in that situation?
I think this means God will guide me in what He needs me to do for Him. And I am sure, there is much more to this...
A prayer for today-
Dear God,
Thank you for being my guide in this life. Help me to stay on Your path. Give me the wisdom and power to live as a believer fulfilling your purpose.
In the name of Jesus I pray,
Amen
Blessings,
