Cancer is one of those dreaded storms in life. It comes out of no where, catches us by surprise, and sweeps over us. It scares us. It hurts. It does not discriminate. It throws us in over our heads. It makes us feel like we could drown. Matthew says it this way,
23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him.24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping.
25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”
26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”
My daddy, Our Father in Heaven, is stronger than cancer. He's bigger than cancer. He has a plan that is way better than stupid cancer. He will beat cancer down and lift us up. Our mighty God will take yucky, ugly, disgusting, mean, hateful cancer and work it for good and His glory (Romans 8:28). God is devoted to using our furious storms to bring about life's greatest blessings. And do you know what? God does that while we wait and see in His strong, loving arms.
I write this today for all the cancer fighters and frontline hand-holders because I know the waiting is hard. My mom is fighting breast cancer and my sister and I, along with a few angels in her life, are frontline hand-holders. I know many others have gone down this road before us. My prayer is for you. You are not alone.
A prayer for today-
Dear Heavenly Father,
I am so thankful to be Your child. I am thankful for Your Son, Jesus, who saves me, and I am thankful for Your Holy Spirit who fills me and guides me. I know, God, You are bigger than every storm I face, even cancer. Today, I pray for all those who are battling cancer, fighters and frontline hand-holders. I also pray for all the cancer fighters who have already won the battle and are in Heaven with You. I pray for their loved ones. Please, Lord, fill them with Your presence and wrap them in Your strong, loving arms. Give them courage and peace. Bless those who are waiting. Heal them in the ways only You know best. Beat cancer down, God, and use it for good and Your glory. I pray for Your Kingdom to come and Your will to be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.
In Jesus' name I pray,
Amen
Love of Christ,
